Hi,I'm a professionally trained painter--turned printmaker. I live a simple life in my small hometown on the West Coast of Michigan. My work reflects the approachable, yet sublime, subject matter and rhythms that surround my everyday life; small town characters, flora & fauna, and ancient bodies of water.
In 2015, during my last year at Kendall College of Art and Design I took an introductory course in Printmaking. I fell in love with both the process and the idea that prints were democratic art that most could afford. I graduated with a BFA in Painting and the realization that like most college grads I was going to spend my life doing something a little different than what I had initially intended. When I'm not working creatively I spend my time hiking the dunes and deciduous forests in the local state park, lounging on the shores of Lake Michigan, working a day job, and haunting the local coffeehouse. I hope that my work stirs the hearts of nature-lovers, soothes and restores the tired, and recalls that we are all small parts of something extravagantly, magnificently, wonderfully huge. Thank you for joining me on my journey, Kelsey |
